Soul Massage – the guardian of peace.
Chapter 7
It is important to realise that traveling to the inner place of peace and practicing soul massage may require a lot of practice.
To help, you need to choose a quiet time and a quiet place in which to prepare for your journey. This can be anywhere that offers you the freedom to become quiet and peaceful. Choose wisely for it should be somewhere that also gives you freedom from interruption, both real and electronic. It should also minimise the potential for external distraction.
Having prepared the way physically for contemplation, you need to prepare the mind as well. By doing so and experiencing this exercise and aid to concentration and focus, you will find an easy way to fill yourself with a heart full of love and peace.
Some of you will be very fortunate:
And will be able to get it immediately and your speedy and informed progress will dazzle you with its simplicity. You will soon say I know who I am and why I am here and it was so easy. You will indeed be fortunate.
Most of us will battle to get there:
as many do at the start. But - persevere. It is so important for you to know that the beauty and joy available at the end of the journey are totally worth any effort you have in trying to get there.
Your journey to peace can now begun.
You are sitting in the comfortable place you have selected. You are on your own. As you read this, see or imagine that everything around you is just fading away. It will, when you learn to switch off and focus your attention on these words and only these words. Just check, allow your mind to follow what you are thinking now and you will probably realise that there are many thoughts and signs of the ego bombarding you.
Things you need to do, things you need to say.
Places you need to be, tomorrow or the next day.
Worries which are just there lurking in the background.
Problems that require solutions and inevitably, decisions that you have to make.
Just realise that your brain continually processes these sort of thoughts and often they are only noticed when attention is drawn to them, as it is now. They churn away without your direction and normally remain largely unnoticed on a conscious level. Ego has taught us to think this way and we allow this background misuse of brain activity to continually take over. We automatically leave the brain in gear and in control, just as it is now.
Stop. Take control. Switch off.
You need to take control of your thinking processes’ and force these random thoughts to fade away into the background. This is your time — and you have chosen this time to be by yourself and quiet within yourself.
You need to be aware of everything, yet focused on nothing. This quietness is your creation. Allow it to happen. Be aware it is spreading. The inner quietness, that place which is deep inside you is calling to you. Focus your mind on it. On the quietness; focus on that beautiful inner peace. The world is fading around you as you concentrate on the silence and that is good.
You can do this. Just want it and it will be so.
You can do this. Random thoughts are now not allowed. Be aware that they will try to surface in your mind. They will try and grab your attention. Just notice them and tell them to fade, to gently fade away. Imagine that these thoughts are like butterflies, just floating around you. Acknowledge them and then just let them fade and fly away.
You can do this. You can control your mind.
Your mind does not control you; this is just the way that your ego works. You have allowed your thoughts to quietly saturate your mind for so long that they automatically take control. Now it is your turn; take control! Do it. Do it now, control your mind. Be in the quietness. Acknowledge thoughts and let them drift away. Say to yourself — this is now my time, my free time and the only thoughts I will focus on now are the words I am reading.
Imagine you can hear these words now as you read, say them out loud if you can. The words are sounding in your imagination, listen! You know that you are just imagining? Good, — do it more, focus more.
The more you focus on these words the more you will find that your stray thoughts are fading away. They come to the forefront? — good, acknowledge them and let them just fade away. It’s happening now. Accept it and as it happens and you focus more and more on these words, you will find that your whole body is relaxing more.
Just let it relax you more and more. With your body relaxing, you will be able to imagine and focus easier on these words and as you do that, their impact and meaning will become clearer to you. You will know that you can control your thought processes and that you are doing it right now. You are aware that you are relaxing more and that you can completely concentrate on the words you are reading.
Do it, do it now. You are learning to set aside thought processes you do not need now. You are learning that the brain really follows your desires. You decide; your brain obeys; realise it. You are doing it now. You are relaxing more and you have set aside your normal random thoughts. External sounds just fade away. Acknowledge the sound, identify it and then let it go. It does not belong here in the peace, in the quiet. You don’t need it. You let it fade away; you instruct your subconscious mind to filter all outside sounds and turn the volume way down. Notice that you are now in the quiet, in the silence inside. Accept this and focus on your breathing, only on your breathing. Notice that your rate of breathing begins to slow down as you focus on it. Be aware that as you breathe in, you are filling your body with fresh clean energy and notice also that as you breathe out, all tension, stress and concerns are leaving your mind. You are relaxing more and more. You are aware and awake, but you love being in the peace, in the quiet, in your own space. You know now you can come to this place, this quiet place anytime you want to. You can easily escape from all stress, from all pressures, from the outside world when you want, when you need to. It is easy to do this; as you read these words and you know you are relaxing more and more. Breathing slower, breathing deeper, enjoying the quiet and silence inside.
You can stay here now for as long as you want. Just say a number of minutes and it will be that way. You will be relaxed — at peace. You can remain in the quiet for the time you have decided. As you are in your silent place — just focus on the peace and quiet and keep your breathing at a comfortable slow and deep rhythm.- Good. — When your allocated time is up you will gradually become fully aware of where you are and you will know you are comfortable and safe. When you are fully aware of your surroundings you will feel wide awake and fully alert and you will be very happy with the experience. Just want it, accept it and it will be so.
Now say the time period in minutes and then focus deeper on the stillness and on your breathing; deeper; deeper; slower and steadier as you listen intently to the quiet.Relax now - Focus. Just continue doing this and relax. You want this, you need this. You will know when it is time. Just think about how quiet, how beautiful it is here, you can almost hear the sound of the sea.
Post consideration
To many, this experience may very well feel funny and strange. Please persevere with it and practice as often as you can. You will find that it becomes easier to reach the focus you want the more you practise. You will also find that achieving this level of control and relaxation will allow you to take a rest from the worries and pressures of everyday life — whenever you choose by just repeating the exercise.
You can use this process or meditation anytime to help you to relax or to concentrate on a single problem at a time. As you slow down all other thoughts, just focus on the problem you need solved.
If you find it has been difficult to quieten your mind, practice this little exercise on a daily basis and you will soon have complete control. Remember that every time you achieve this quietness of mind, you have the opportunity to wander further in the space inside yourself and soon you will know who you are and how you can have anything you really want in this life.
